Types of Cologne Practices at Work

1. The Cologne Cloud

We all seem to work with at least one co-worker who smells as if they had been bathing in cologne. The smell is so overpowering, to the point of nausea and headaches just being in their presence. The smell lingers long after they have left the room and it seems like you are left gasping for life afterwards. This problem could be easily fixed by lessening the amount of sprays you do. You may want to save it for a more suitable occasion if it is very strong.

2. The One Cologne Collection

The one cologne collection is the co-worker who uses the same cologne for both work and the night club. Some examples are colognes such as 1 Million by Paco Rabanne or Eros by Versace. These fragrances are powerful, bold, sweet fragrances and as a result will feel out of place in a office setting. When choosing a cologne for the workplace I would recommend a fresh, clean and soapy smelling cologne. As if you had just stepped foot out of the shower.

3. The Informed Collector

The informed collector has done his research on cologne and therefore knows what best fits in with the work environment. As a result, he gets complemented regularly by everyone, with them asking what he’s wearing. The cologne choices are fresh and clean and not offensive to his co-workers. He knows what amount of sprays works best for him which is usually around 2 to 3 for most office cologne’s and doesn’t project the cologne to another room, down the hall. You want to be in this category, it shows you care about your presentation and are put together.

Disclaimer: Some employers conduct a strict no fragrance policy. This is due to fragrance allergies a coworker might have or the occupation might prohibit it. Ask your employer about the policies regarding the use of fragrance.

My Top 5 Best Men’s Fragrances For Work

5. Green Irish Tweed by Creed

Green Irish Tweed is a classy and sophisticated cologne that is one of the more famous coming from Creed. Released in 1985, it continues to be a top seller that’s known for its brilliant opening. The opening practically transports you to a Irish countryside with its ultra green scent with lemon verbena. To the untrained nose this one smells similar and to some almost identical to Cool Water by Davidoff. So if you are looking for something that might not be up to Creed’s quality but with similar notes,Cool Water is for you.

4. Percival by Parfums de Marly

This one is a niche cologne that not a lot of people will recognize on you and you will have no problem with someone wearing the same cologne as you. Percival is a fresh, citrus, slightly sweet, and woodsy fragrance categorized as unisex but the amber wood and musk give you a masculine edge. For a seasoned cologne collector the scent is nothing unique and groundbreaking however, Parfums de Marly is known for the longevity of their cologne.

3. Dylan Blue by Versace

This is for the young up and comer at the office who is looking to make a great impression with the boss. This cologne is one of the few that you can wear at night, out with your friends or in the daytime in the office. A fresh smelling cologne with an opening of zesty citrus and aquatic notes that dries down into ambergris and musk. I would recommend this for the 20 to 35 age range. It’s youthful smell and notes make me recommend something more mature for older men.

2. Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani

One of the greatest summer office cologne on the market right now. Acqua Di Gio, released in 1996 by Giorgio Armani after gaining inspiration from his vacation in Pantelleria, an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea. This cologne is a 10/10 for a lot of people and for good reason, it perfectly transports you to that island with deep aquatic notes like the sea breeze and fresh citrus with lemon and lime. The performance is perfect for the office with its projection on the moderate side and it lasts 8-12 hours on your skin.It will definitely get you noticed and will have people asking “what are you wearing?”

1. Prada L’Homme by Prada

The greatest office fragrance of all time in my opinion. This one is for the sharp dressed man in a suit and tie letting everyone know he’s going to be the boss. This cologne is one of the rare few that have flawless composition with its bright, fresh, clean, and soapy smell that is blended smoothly. Iris is the centerpiece in this cologne and is also balanced perfectly to create this smooth and elegant scent that will have you smelling the bottle daily. The performance on this one great with moderate projection but lasts 12 hours+ on a few sprays to the skin. Certainly pick this one up, you will not regret it.
