Top 10 Best Colognes for Summer 2019

10. One by Calvin Klein

Starting off the best colognes for summer, One of the most distinctive citrus fragrances on the market. Calvin Klein’s best seller, fresh lemon and green notes with hints of floral notes. It is the ultimate safe bet when it comes to summer, able to be worn during any occasion.

You can’t over use it because of its light and inoffensive smell. If you want something that projects powerfully, I wouldn’t recommend this fragrance. It has a hard time keeping up with colognes like Acqua Di Gio by Giorgio Armani.

Like I said, the projection isn’t the most powerful. However, the longevity will last you a good 6 to 8 hours in the summer heat.

9. Dylan Blue by Versace

A newer Versace cologne that has been taking over the summer market recently. It is a citrus cologne with grapefruit being the star of the show here. Patchouli and pepper give it the masculine edge that will get the attention of women.

It contains the synthetic ingredient Ambroxan as main note that you smell. Ambroxan is a note that has very similar qualities with ambergris and gives the cologne a deep musk and sweet smell.

It can pass as a day or night-time cologne from the office to a high-end roof top bar. This is a recommendation for any age range, it works for a teenager to a man in his 40’s.

The performance is slightly above average with the longevity lasting you up to 8 hours. It is perfect for all night at your favorite bar or all day at your workplace. The projection is on the moderate side so it is an up close cologne that is refreshing. It is a major compliment getting cologne, expect to have people saying it smells really good.

8. Legend Spirit by Mont Blanc

A simple and safe aquatic cologne that is one of the more affordable options on this list. Legend Spirit has a fresh, clean, and with a fruit-like sweetness to it. It receives more compliments than colognes 3X its price tag. Inoffensive, yet has something unique about it that causes people to be drawn to it.

It has the smell of a very expensive soap, like the kind you would find in the Ritz Carlton. Smooth, but the longevity isn’t weak, it should last you anywhere from 8 to 10 hours, even on the hottest of days.

It has held up in the sweltering humid weather of Florida, without missing a beat. It lasted from when I put it on in the morning until my drive home at night. The projection is moderate, it projects enough to be noticed in close encounters. Things like night life, going to the beach, or going on a run at the park, are perfect situations for Legend Spirit.

7. Hawas by Rasasi

A personal favorite of mine that had been love at first sniff since the day I bought it. It has gotten me the most compliments out any fragrance in my collection. A perfect night life cologne for the summer time. It has been becoming more popular so I would get it before it becomes the next Dior Sauvage. Everybody and their uncle has Dior Sauvage and it has lost its spark when you smell it so often in public.

It has the perfect balance of sweetness and masculinity that is for any age range. The notes I get from this one are slightly aquatic, citrus, cinnamon, and musk.

The performance of this has been personally put to the test by me on multiple occasions. I have worn this from night life to a day out doing errands and has held up perfectly. It lasted anywhere from 12 to 14 hours sprayed onto my skin and I had to wash my clothes to get the fragrance out that’s how long it lasts.

6. Chrome by Azzaro

A fresh, clean fragrance with a lemon note that has a freshness rare in cologne. Lemon notes nowadays in mainstream fragrances seem to smell like cat urine or floor cleaner…that needs to change. Chrome’s lemon note that is refreshing and nice without the cloying bitter smell that is so common now.

The lemon is matched up with a cast of other fruits such a pineapple and bergamot. The musk notes darken it into a masculine cologne that women love. The smell is inoffensive, perfect for office or school where you just need a light cologne to keep you fresh.

It’s a really long lasting cologne with a longevity of 12 hours or more. The projection is moderate, great for both the office or going to hangout with your friends at a restaurant.

5. Mugler Cologne by Thierry Muglar

Out of the shower clean is how I would best describe this cologne from Thierry Muglar. It has that smell that everyone has become familiar with when it comes to a clean soapy smell. It’s a safe buy that is a relaxed summer fragrance with soft citrus notes and natural green notes from neroli and pettigrain.

It can be worn in any situation where you need just a basic fresh and clean cologne. Work, school, or just going on an errand run, Mugler is perfect for either one. It can be a little bit boring to some, but that is because of people have expectations that all colognes must blow everyone away with complex note pairings and bold scents.

The performance is one of its strong points. People who wear this regularly report it lasting up to 12 hours straight, surprised when someone comments on the cologne hours after being sprayed. The projection is in the “just right” category, not too bold and not too soft. This makes it a safe bet for anywhere you go.

4. Invictus Aqua by Paco Rabanne

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Invictus Aqua has caused countless brands to try their best to replicate this citrus and aquatic note cologne. It has a more refreshing and pleasant aroma compared to the original Invictus that Paco Rabanne came out with. It’s light and airy without the dense smell that came from the original.

The main downside as of this article being written, which is June 2019, is the updated formula. The 2016 formula is consistently praised as the best Invictus Aqua batch to ever come out. The 2018 batch has been mentioned to have a very alcohol dominated smell that has been watered down from previous batches.

If you can get your hands on a authentic 2016 batch, I would not hesitate to purchase it. It is rare find nowadays that has an incredible smell for the summer time.

Like most of Paco Rabanne’s colognes, their performance is super powerful. The longevity is anywhere from 12 to 14 hours, this is more than enough for any day. The projection is moderate/heavy and you will not have issues being noticed and complimented when you wear this one.

3. Aqua Amara by Bvlgari

Aqua Amara or translated is “bitter water” is an intense citrus and aquatic fragrance that is the perfect affordable cologne for the summer time. It opens up with a intense kick of mandarin orange with a little orange zest added as well. Later a salty aquatic note comes on, giving it a fresh counterpart.

Don’t over-spray this cologne, or you will regret it. The projection is very powerful and if sprayed too much would cause people around you to be overpowered. With the right amount of sprays, it is guaranteed to be the most complimented summer fragrance in your collection.

The longevity is a good part of this fragrance as well. I have clocked in this fragrance lasting 14 hours straight on 3 sprays to the skin. That is a impressive feat for a summer fragrance.

2. Virgin Island Water by Creed

Coconut, Lime, Rum, and Hibiscus. The smells of a perfect vacation all bottled up into a single fragrance that will have you smelling it constantly. You will smell like you are on the beach enjoying a ice cold cocktail. The notes are all very realistic, with no synthetic smells that take away from the fragrance’s experience.

This fragrance suits more of the younger crowd (30 or below) due to its sweetness and playfulness that comes with it. You couldn’t get a any more perfect cologne to wear on vacation.

The performance is the main complaint with a lot of people. The projection isn’t very strong so it’s not the type of fragrance you wear at a club to get the attention of someone. It is more for the relaxing day at the beach drinking margaritas without a care in the world. The longevity is a plus, it will last from 10 to 12 hours on the skin with moderate projection.

1. Fico di Amalfi by Acqua Di Parma

Are you tired of the same summer lemon scents? Acqua Di Parma knocked it out of the park with this fig dominant fragrance. It is a mellow fresh fragrance perfect for the summer, even spring time. I cannot see anyone being offended by the smell of this fragrance, it is inoffensive and just all-around amazing fragrance.

You can wear it from the beach to a business meeting without feeling out-of-place in the least. I would advise only using this during the summer though, it has no place as a cold weather option.

I have made this my #1 pick due to one thing… compliments. This fragrance has received countless compliments, even from random people you haven’t spoke to prior. If you are looking to make a statement, this fragrance should be the first one on your list.

The performance is average, you won’t gain compliments by blasting the fragrance up peoples noses. They will catch a sniff of the graceful fragrance and wonder what you are wearing. The longevity should last you anywhere from 8 to 10 hours during the sweltering heat of summer.
